  1. Look at the appearance

High-quality PE pipe: the inner and outer surfaces of the pipe are smooth and free of defects such as bubbles, dents and impurities.

Poor quality PE pipe: the inner and outer surfaces of the pipe are not smooth, bright, pitted and obviously depressed.

  2. Milling strip

High-quality polyethylene pipe: shiny and smooth, not easy to break after repeated folding.

Inferior PE pipe: dark color, easy to break when folded.

 3. Welding port

Qualified welded joints of PE pipes shall have smooth and symmetrical flanging along the entire circumference of the pipe, and the minimum depth of the flanging shall not be lower than the pipe surface; the misalignment at any position on both sides of the weld near the outer circumference of the flanging shall not exceed 10% of the thickness of the pipe wall.

Unqualified: flanging is smooth and flat. After the joint pressure, the flanging can be longer.

 4, the smell

High-quality polyethylene pipe: The product that has just been processed or melted by heating has a slight plastic fragrance, and the product after cooling has no peculiar smell.

Bad PE pipe: There is a pungent smell.

  5. Elongation at break

Elongation at break is the ratio of the length of the sample to the original length at tensile break. The higher the elongation at break, the better the flexibility and performance of the product.

High quality PE pipe: stretched to 3.5 times without breaking.

Inferior PE pipe: elongated easy to break, poor toughness.

 6. Oxidation induction time

Oxidation induction time is a measure of the time of the autocatalytic oxidation reaction of the sample under high temperature oxygen conditions, and is an indicator of the thermal degradation resistance of the material during molding, storage, welding and use. The longer the oxidation induction time, the better the anti-aging performance of the product.
