The common connection modes of polyethylene pipelines for urban water supply are: hot melt connection, electric fusion connection, socket flexible connection, flange connection, steel plastic transition joint connection, etc. 1. Hot melt connection Hot melt connection is to use a special heating tool to heat the parts to be connected of polyethylene pipes or fittings under pressure. After melting, remove the heating tool and apply pressure to connect the two melting surfaces together. Keep it under stable pressure for a period of time until the joint cools. The hot-melt connection includes a hot-melt butt connection, a hot-melt socket connection, and a hot-melt saddle connection. 2. Electrofusion connection Electrofusion connection is to use a special electrofusion pipe fitting with embedded resistance wire to closely contact and energize the connection part of PE pipe or pipe fitting. PE water supply pipe heats the connection part through the embedded resistance wire to melt and connect it into one body until the joint cools. Electrofusion connections can be used to connect with polyethylene pipes or socket fittings of different types and different melt flow rates. Electrofusion connection is divided into electrofusion socket connection and electrofusion saddle connection. 3. Socket-type flexible connection Polyethylene pipe Socket-type flexible connection is a new connection mode developed by referring to the socket-type flexible connection principle of cast iron pipe and polyvinyl chloride pipe (PVC-U). PE pipe is welded at one end of polyethylene pipe with a reinforced polyethylene socket. Socket type flexible connection is to directly insert one end of polyethylene pipe into the special socket of pipe or pipe fitting, and achieve the purpose of connecting PE pipe and pipe fitting by compressing and resisting drawing through the locking ring in the socket and compressing and sealing with rubber sealing ring. 4. Flange connection Flange connection is mainly used for the connection of polyethylene pipes and metal pipes or valves, flow meters, pressure gauges and other ancillary equipment. The flange connection is mainly composed of polyethylene flange connection, steel or aluminum back pressure looper flange, steel or aluminum flange, gasket or sealing ring, bolt, nut, etc. Flange connection is through the fastening bolts, nuts, so that the flange connector and flange close contact, to achieve the purpose of connection. 5. Steel-plastic transition joint connection Steel-plastic transition joint connection adopts steel-plastic transition joint prefabricated by cold pressing or other means to connect polyethylene pipe and metal pipe. The steel-plastic transition joint has a pull-resistant locking ring and sealing ring, which is usually required to have good sealing performance and pull-resistant, pressure resistance is greater than the polyethylene pipe in the system. The above is the connection method of PE pipe. It should be noted that it is strictly prohibited to directly make pipe threads on polyethylene pipes and pipe fittings in any form and adopt threaded connection. It is strictly prohibited to use open flame baking polyethylene pipes and pipe fittings for direct connection. The connection technology of polyethylene has been very mature and reliable. Statistics show that the leakage rate of polyethylene pipe is less than 2/100,000, which is far lower than 2-3% of ductile iron pipe, which greatly improves the safety and economic benefits of the pipeline, which is also a very important reason for the use of polyethylene pipe in gas pipeline.
